Oxygen sensor
Keeping your oxygen sensor fresh may improve fuel economy by 10 percent to 15 percent, which can save $100 a year in fuel costs on average. Keeping the sensor in good operating condition will also minimize exhaust emissions, reduce the risk of costly damage to the catalytic converter and ensure peak engine performance.

Noisy belts
If your belts make a horrible shrieking sound when you press on the gas pedal, they are too loose and probably need to be tightened or replaced.

Get into the habit of checking out the belts on your car from time to time, and have all the belts changed periodically to avoid major repair bills.

Accident advice
Storing some simple, everyday items in your glove compartment or trunk will go a long way toward making a fender bender less stressful.

Keep a flashlight in the car in case the accident happens at night, and keep pen and paper on hand to take down the other driver’s information.

Some insurance companies and automobile associations may provide roadside assistance and telephone advice, so keep these phone numbers handy as well.
